Why is it free?
Break Reminder has no ads and sells nothing. Instead, with your permission, it shares a small part of your unused internet connection through EarnFM.
What is shared
- Spare bandwidth, while Break Reminder is running and your PC is online.
- EarnFM's network carries requests for businesses, for things like price comparison and ad verification. Some of these requests go out through your connection, so websites see your IP address.
- To run this, EarnFM processes your IP address, a device ID and the record of your consent.
What stays private
- Your files, passwords, or what you type and browse.
- What Break Reminder stores: your settings and today's break counts. That stays on your PC.
- Your name, email or contacts. There's no account to create.
Before you agree
- Downloading isn't agreeing
- Nothing is shared until you choose "Agree and continue" on the app's first screen, which explains the deal in plain words. If you say no, the app quits. Your agreement is recorded with EarnFM.
- Share only what you may
- Use it on a device and connection you're allowed to share. On a work or school network, ask first. On a metered or mobile connection, sharing can use data you pay for.
- Stopping is simple
- Uninstall Break Reminder and sharing stops right away. Quitting the app from the tray pauses it until the app starts again. How to uninstall
- Usage statistics
- Break Reminder sends usage statistics to PostHog (EU). Once you've agreed, it also records how its window is used, with your own content and input fields hidden. Never what you copy, type or store. Details
